Interview With Olaf Verhorevoort – 2025 Morris & Essex Kennel Club Breed Judge – American Staffordshire Terriers
1. What does it mean to be invited to judge at the 2025 Morris & Essex Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show, an unrivaled celebration of purebred dogs in America?
Olaf Verhorevoort: It means a lot to me, especially because my breed was founded or started in 1936 at this show. And to judge my beloved breed in the country of origin is a dream come true. Also, to be one of the few foreigners who was invited for this prestigious show is a great honor!
2. Can you share your thoughts on your Breed assignment(s)? Please be specific.
Olaf Verhorevoort: With an entry of 93 entries, I was very privileged. It was the second-highest entry in all breeds, with overall good quality and some really outstanding dogs in the Best of Breed competition that could win in every country.
I did enjoy every minute of it and hope to be back one day.
3. Why do you think M&E has remained relevant to preservation breeders and dog show exhibitors in the 21st century?
Olaf Verhorevoort: I think because it’s only held once in five years, it keeps it special; everybody wants to add a win at M&E on their dogs!
