American Eskimo Dog Club Of America National Specialty
Leander, TX . April 24-28, 2019
The American Eskimo Dog Club of America was five days of activities at Gold Ducat Farmette and DePaw Dog Sports & Training Center in Leander, Texas. It got a little bit of a shaky start when the herding instinct test got cancelled because of rain and flooding in the sheep pen area. A little rain didn’t deter the Barbeque Welcome Dinner though, which was well-attended. The following day had two Farm Dog Tests and even dogs who have never seen a sheep or jumped on a hay bale before passed with ease.
Friday morning there were two Eskie only agility trials where the dogs enjoyed themselves cavorting over and through various obstacles and jumps. Lone Star American Eskimo Dog Club hosted an afternoon specialty followed by wine and hors d’oeuvres catered by Farm To Fork for the enjoyment of spectators and participants in the Parade of Title Holders.
Judges’ Education, Rally and Obedience started off the day of the National with trick dog and CGC certifications going on at the same time. Those events were followed by Sweepstakes, Beginner puppies and conformation. There were lots of winners and everyone was happy to celebrate at the banquet at Blue Corn Harvest that evening.
With raffles, silent auctions, and an AEDCA regional conformation show, Sunday was the last chance for people to win a prize before they made the trek home. Everyone in the building had a dog entered or was showing a dog. It was wonderful watching everyone enjoying their Eskies and the annual National Specialty that showcases our wonderful breed!
Looking forward to seeing everyone at next year’s National Specialty in Albany, Oregon, in April 2020!
