“Dog People: Faces of AKC Gazette” features more than 20 years of caricatures by AKC Gazette Managing Editor Bud Boccone
NEW YORK, NY – The American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world's largest purebred and mixed breed dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, is pleased to announce the release of Dog People: Faces of the AKC Gazette, a limited-edition, 92-page book featuring a collection of caricatures created by AKC Gazette Managing Editor Bud Boccone. The book is available now on the AKC Shop.
For over 20 years, Boccone has captured the personalities, accomplishments, and distinctive characteristics of individuals who have made lasting contributions to the sport of purebred dogs. Originally created for each issue of the AKC Gazette, these illustrations offer a unique and often humorous look at the people whose dedication, expertise, and influence have helped define the sport and those who continue to shape its future.
Dog People: Faces of the AKC Gazette brings these illustrations together in a special collection that celebrates the individuals behind the sport, from legendary breeders and judges to influential leaders, handlers, and advocates.

Behind every great tradition in our sport are individuals whose passion, knowledge, and commitment have helped it thrive," said Gina M. DiNardo, AKC President and CEO. "This collection is a wonderful tribute to those who have made a lasting impact on the AKC community. Bud has a remarkable ability to capture not only someone's likeness, but also the personality and spirit that make them memorable. We're delighted to share his work in this special edition."
Among the notable figures featured are AKC Chairman Emeritus Ron Menaker; renowned animal trainer Bill Berloni and award-winning actress and animal advocate Bernadette Peters; philanthropist and dog show pioneer Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge; respected judges Walter Goodman, Lee Canalizo, Frank Sabella, and Anne Rogers Clark; prominent fanciers Bill Shelton, Evelyn Shafer, Kaz Hosaka and Margery Good and many more.
More than a collection of illustrations, the book serves as a visual tribute to the people who have contributed to the history, traditions, and continued success of the sport. Through Boccone's distinctive artistic perspective, readers can revisit familiar faces, celebrate influential figures, and appreciate the individuals whose contributions extend well beyond the show ring.
Dog People: Faces of AKC Gazette is available as a limited-edition publication for $45 with free shipping at on the AKC Shop.
