The Pharaoh Hound Club of America, Inc. was founded in 1970 by Mrs. Rita Laventhall-Sacks, with support from Ruth Taft-Harper, Elaine and Dexter Linn, and Kathryn Benson, to bring together Pharaoh Hound enthusiasts and preserve the integrity of the breed. Mrs. Laventhall-Sacks established the registry, later maintained by her daughter Laurie, and their efforts culminated in the Pharaoh Hound's official recognition by the American Kennel Club on January 1, 1984. Today, the club has over 100 members across the U.S., Australia, Canada, and Europe, and holds annual general meetings alongside its National Specialty.
