WHAT: This National Purebred Dog Day, join the American Kennel Club in celebrating the pride, predictability, and purpose of purebred dogs, as well as the many ways that these wonderful animals impact humans every day (including service, therapy and military and police work).
National Purebred Dog Day was created by Colorado resident and Puli fancier Suzi Szeremy to recognize the heritage and diversity of purebred dogs and to highlight and celebrate all the ways purebred dogs make our lives better. In March of 2015, Colorado became the first state in the country to recognize May 1 as National Purebred Dog Day® by joint resolution of the House and the Senate, and with the endorsement of the American Kennel Club®, with Connecticut, Georgia, Maine and West Virginia following. Since then, both United States Houses of Congress and numerous states have recognized National Purebred Dog Day.
WAYS TO CELEBRATE: Take the time to have some more fun with your dog! Go on a longer walk, have an extra game of fetch, take a training class, or just cuddle up on the couch together.
