New York, NY- The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization that is the world’s largest registry of purebred and mixed-breed dogs, and a leading voice for canine welfare and responsible ownership, is pleased to announce the inaugural AKC Breeder Seminar taking place December 9-10, 2026 in Orlando, FL leading up to the AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin.
This two-day educational event is designed for breeders of all experience levels, giving attendees the unique opportunity to connect with and learn from experts in the field. There will be presentations with a breeder-to-breeder focus, as well as roundtables that allow attendees to gain practical insights and ask questions about building successful breeding programs.
“Responsible breeders play the most essential role in protecting the health, well-being, and future of purebred dogs,” said Gina M. DiNardo, AKC President and CEO. “Education and the sharing of knowledge are important to supporting breeders at every stage of their journey. We are pleased to introduce the AKC Breeder Seminar as an opportunity for breeders to learn from accomplished AKC breeders, exchange ideas with their peers, and gain practical knowledge they can apply to their own breeding programs. We are grateful to the experts who are sharing their time and experience to help strengthen the future of responsible breeding.”
Featured speakers include Doug Johnson, Dr. Joellen Gregory, and Dale Martenson, with presentations by past AKC Breeder of the Year and AKC National Championship Best Bred-by-Exhibitor recipients and nominees, among others. Registration for the Seminar is $50, and proceeds will benefit the AKC Canine Health Foundation’s Small Animal Theriogenology Program Area, which helps education future veterinary reproductive specialists.
