David B. Swartwood

David Swartwood “Bryden” English Springer Spaniels “Prelude” Mini Wire Dachshunds David Swartwood has been raised with and training dogs for his entire life; his childhood dogs were Boston Terriers.

His start in breeding purebred dogs began in high school with (American) Cocker Spaniels, Lhasa Apsos, and finally deciding on English Springers Spaniels as his breed of choice over 45 years ago. Miniature Wirehaired Dachshunds came into the picture 33 years ago. Springer and Mini Wire breeding and showing is still going strong, with Multi-Best in Show and Specialty winners in both breeds. He has also owned/finished a Pug and Bulldog.

After 20-plus years as an All-Breed Handler, David now enjoys judging alongside his partner, Thom Nesbitt. He is licensed for all breeds.

David has been fortunate to judge across Canada, the US, and Mexico along with Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Bermuda, Bahamas, Italy, and South Africa.

In their spare time, David and Thom run a boarding kennel, training school, and small farm with sheep, goats, donkeys, llamas, Dexter cows, and a wide variety of poultry, turkeys, chickens, guinea hens, and peacocks among them.

David and Thom love every moment of breeding, showing, and training their wonderful companions along with judging and meeting new people with the similar interest of preserving the sport of purebred dogs.
