HELEN DORRANCE Starting with Golden Retrievers, I have been showing, breeding, and competing in AKC Conformation and Performance events since 1977. I have owned and/or bred over 55 Golden Retriever champions under the Ducat prefix. I have had seven Golden Retriever Club of America Outstanding Dams, including the Dogs In Review top-producing Golden Retriever bitch in 2012 and am a Gold Breeder of Merit. I have been showing American Eskimo Dogs in Conformation and Agility since they were AKC recognized in 1995. I have bred numerous AED champions, National Specialty winners, owned the Number One Eskie in 2014 and a Dogs In Review top-producing AED bitch in 2015. I also own the only ROMX Toy AED dam and the only ROM Toy AED sire, and am a Silver Breeder of Merit. I have been an AKC Conformation judge for 25 years and am licensed to judge the Sporting Group, Non-Sporting Group, Australian Shepherds, Icelandic Sheepdogs, a few sighthounds, Junior Showmanship, and am permit for one-third of the Working Group. I am also a retired Agility judge and have competed in AKC Agility since its inception. I bred, owned, and trained the first Master Agility Champion American Eskimo Dog and am still actively competing in Agility (and Scent Work). I am the chair of the American Eskimo Dog Club Judges’ Education Committee and on the Golden Retriever Club of America’s Judges’ Education Committee. I am currently showing and breeding Golden Retrievers, American Eskimo Dogs, Whippets, and Tibetan Spaniels, and have owned/produced Best in Field Lure Coursing champions (Whippets) and show champions in all four breeds. I am a member of three National clubs, two All-Breed clubs, a Group club, Agility/Obedience club, and three Specialty clubs. I run a boarding kennel on an eight-acre farmette and raise bees, goats, and sheep, and have a food forest in my front yard. My ultimate goal is a U-Pic-Em Blackberry dog park with an organic coffee stop in my driveway. I love all breeds and judging, and am always looking for dogs that fit the Standard and are able to fulfill their purpose—no matter what that purpose is and no matter who is showing the dog.
