Dr. James R. Davis

Original Breed: Cocker Spaniel | Kennel: EPIC Cocker Spaniels

Dr. James Davis has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs for more than 25 years. He breeds and exhibits Cocker Spaniels under the EPIC prefix, with EPIC Cockers earning recognition in both specialty and all-breed competition.

James is a Life Member of the American Spaniel Club, where he serves as Vice President and as the Club's Delegate to the American Kennel Club.

James approaches judging with both enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility. He particularly enjoys studying the history, purpose, structure, and function that distinguish each breed. In the ring, he strives to evaluate every dog faithfully against its breed standard, considering the whole dog and the qualities essential to breed type, while treating every exhibitor with respect.

James holds a Doctor of Education from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Outside the sport, he works as a strategy and operations consultant in the education sector.
