Mrs. Julie Felten

Julie Felten was born in East Chicago, Indiana, and grew up in Hammond, Indiana, with a menagerie of animals: rabbits, ducks, hamsters, chickens, cats, dogs, and her early love, horses. She began breeding dogs as an early teen. Her first litter was out of her Bluetick Coonhound. After much begging, her mother allowed her to keep just “one.” That one started her passion for dogs and it became evident that dogs would be a big part of her adult life. Mrs. Felten began her AKC judging career in 2000 and is approved to judge the Terrier, Herding, and Non-Sporting Gropups, and is currently working towards completing the Toy Group. In addition: Doberman Pinschers and Best in Show. She is the only Parson Russell Terrier breeder-judge to be selected to judge their National Specialty twice. Although currently breeding on a limited basis, her “Fox Valley” breeding program continues to help many fanciers obtain success throughout the world. She has bred/owned over 80 AKC Champions, most finishing out of the Bred-By Exhibitor Classes. Multiple Group winners, National/Specialty winners, multiple performance-titled dogs, and all-breed Best in Show honors. Many remember her Bred-By bitch, BISS BIS CH Fox Valley Frolic, “Fuzz,” owned together with Dan and Amelia Musser, as the Parson who paved the way for the breed. Fuzz was also one of the first Parson Russell Terriers to win an all-breed Best in Show. Mrs. Felten currently resides in Wauconda, Illinois with her husband, Ron, and five terriers. She has two grown adult children and two grandchildren. She is retired, and outside of dogs she enjoys travel, music, and gardening. She has judged at some of most prestigious dog shows in the US, including Westminster Kennel Club, Montgomery County Kennel Club, Devon Dog Show Association, and “Woofstock,” to name a few.
