Dr. Kevin T. Shimel

Dr. Kevin T Shimel Dr. Kevin T. Shimel is a Veterinarian of over 30 years and native of Queens, New York. Having had Borzoi since 1978, Salukis since 1981, he has been involved in purebred dogs his entire adult life. Dr. Shimel has shown and judged dogs all across the US and in several other countries. He has lectured on movement/form and function, integrative medicine, and genetics at various dog and cat show clubs. Professionally partnered with Carol Kubiak Zamora in Phaedra Borzoi, they have bred dozens of American and International Champions as a small hobby kennel, to include national, regional, multi-country specialty and all-breed winning, top-rated, top-producing, versatile, multi-titled Champion Borzoi, with Junior, Adult, and Veteran titles. BIS, BISS, World Winners, Euro Winners, Latin American/Caribbean Winners, Russian Champions, multiple BCOA National Specialty Winners, multiple BCOA Breeder of The Year and Top Sire, Top Dam awards are among the accolades. Over the generations, Phaedra has imported and exported many Borzoi, enriching the gene pool in this country and abroad. World travel and photography are his third career, to include visiting 83 percent of the world, speaking engagements on world culture, photography gallery exhibits, and visits to many kennels, enjoying his Rat Terrier, cooking, and LEARNING keep him busy in his spare time.
