Ms. Margaret S. Wilson

Dogs have always been an integral part of my life—first as a breeder-owner-handler, then as a professional handler for 20 years (all breeds), and I became a licensed judge in 2007. Have participated in Conformation, Obedience, Field Trials, Hunt Tests, Junior Showmanship, and Teaching, I have a great appreciation for all the AKC Performance events.

In early years, my mother, Ann Serak, and I bred or owned many German Shorthaired Pointer champions, including Best in Show and Specialty winners. Our "Serakraut" GSPs can be found in the pedigrees of many successful lines and are pictured in books authored by Anna K. Nicholas, C. Bede Maxwell, David Layton, and Georgina Byrne.

In 1982, I married Roland Wilson, and we enjoyed a long partnership as AKC Registered Handlers until he sadly passed away in 2005. We finished dogs in all seven Groups with multiple National and Best in Show wins, resulting in a keen interest and the study of all breeds.

Around 1980, I met my first English Cocker Spaniel and that was the beginning of my passion for that breed. We finished over 50 champions and handled five different ECS to 25 BIS wins. My daughter, Shannon Steiner, and I currently breed ECS under the "Sapphire" prefix, resulting in Specialty winning champions.

Judging highlights would be judging the National Specialty for ECS in 2014 and 2025, for Welsh Springer Spaniels in 2026.

• President of the ECSCA 2016-18; 2026-present

• Asst Show Chair of Renaissance Cluster 2021-2025

• Secretary of Wisconsin KC 2020-2025

• Secretary of Dubuque KC 2020-2025

• Chair of the ECS National in 2007 and 2010;

• Member of the Board of ECSCA 2009-2011, 2016-2023, 2026-present

• Chair of the ECSCA Breed Education Committee 2022-2025

• Member of the Board of the ECSC of SE Wisconsin 2008-present;

• President of ECSC of SE Wisconsin 2008-2010, and Secretary 2012-present;

• Parent Club approved mentor in English Cocker Spaniels.

Non dog activities: retired from S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. in 2014, after 44 years in various positions, including 30 years as Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO, Samuel C. Johnson. Pastimes include tennis, theatre, reading, and gardening.

Over the years, our involvement with dogs has allowed me to meet many treasured friends and to travel all over the USA. I really care about our sport and the people and dogs involved.
