Mr. Richard C. Kinsey

Richard C Kinsey has owned dogs for most of his life, having had Whippets as a child, although not for showing. As a teenager, sport played a major part in his life as he played semi-professional football and holds a Black Belt Tae-Kwon-Do. He also instructed until 1980 when an injury put paid to both sports, and that is when he started showing dogs.

His first breed was the Rottweiler in 1982, and then in the late ‘90s he bought a Leonberger as they then came into the Working Group from the Utility Group. He has owned and bred UK Champions in Leonbergers. He has been lucky enough to have judged many times in Latvia, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, Norway, Sri Lanka, and Malta, and judged Leonberger club shows in Belgium, Russia, Netherlands, and Sweden.

He is currently an assessor/evaluator/mentor for many Working & Pastoral breeds, so he’s a firm believer in education of judges.

He has served on several open show committees and breed club committees over the last 30 years and now serves on Driffield CH Show committee.

He is passed to award CCs in 41 breeds, including all breeds in the Working Group and across five of the seven Groups in the UK, plus the Working Group and Pastoral Group and BIS at Championship Show level.

In 2029, Richard has the honor of judging Leonbergers at Crufts (after 30-plus years in the breed).
