Mrs. Robette G. Johns is an AKC Breed and Junior Showmanship judge based in South Elgin, IL. 30 AKC approvals and 5 judged shows.
Robette Johns attended her first dog show and Collie Club National Specialty Show as a teenager in 1973. Hooked on showing dogs, she started Row-Bar® Collies which has bred, co-bred, and owned over 75 champion Rough & Smooth Collies. She also had a couple of champion Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Robette was a professional handler early on, later moving on to judging. She celebrated her 25th year as an AKC conformation judge in 2022 and also had the thrill of judging bitches at the Collie Club of America National. Her love of dogs and judging has had Robette earning the privilege of adding numerous breeds to her judging resume; she hopes to be approved for the Herding Group in 2027. Robette is now in the process of adding the Working Group and has Siberian Huskies. She has judged in Canada, Japan, and Germany. Robette is a member of both the American Dog Show Judges Association and the Dog Judges Association of America. Robette’s passion has been canine health and she joined the Collie Health Foundation, Inc. in 1990. Her years as Treasurer, Vice President, and now the last eight and a half years as President, have given Robette the opportunity to build relationships with Collie fanciers, others devoted to canine health, and to researchers all over the country. She belongs to three specialty clubs: the International Collie Club, CCA, Malibu KC, and the Morris & Essex Kennel Club. Robette has held all positions in specialty clubs and many in the kennel clubs. Yes, she stays busy!
