Mr. Russell L. McFadden

Russell L. McFadden’s involvement with purebred dogs dates back 50 years at this point in time. He got his first Afghan Hound in 1971 and his first Whippet in 1973. He had a very small breeding program that produced a number of Whippet champions under his Timbrel prefix. He’s also had Salukis and Ibizan Hounds over the years. For a number of reasons, Whippets are the breed he chose to actively breed. (MHis Ibizan Hound had a litter of one, but he never bred his Afghans or Salukis.)

He has been a member of the American Whippet Club (AWC) since 1983 where he’s served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and as a Board of Directors member. I has also been a member of the Saluki Club of America since 2014. He’s served as the Chair of the Specialty Advisory Committee for this club. He has been a member of, and served in several different positions on, the Board of a couple of different local all-breed clubs and an obedience club in the past. He is a lifetime member of the Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club, in which his membership started in 1974.

He was first approved by the American Kennel Club to judge Whippets and Afghan Hounds in 1988, followed by Salukis and Italian Greyhounds in 1989 and the rest of the Sighthounds in 1992. He is now approved to judge the Hound Group, Italian Greyhounds, Best in Show, and all-breed Junior Showmanship.
