Created by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Foundation Stock Service (FSS), was intended to meet the demands of today’s enthusiasts for rare dog breeds. Each of the following dog breeds has been accepted for recording in the AKC Foundation Stock Service. By offering this service, the AKC enables these purebred breeds to develop while giving them the assurance of a trustworthy and recognized channel for maintaining their records. AKC registration is not available for FSS dog breeds. AKC Companion Events accept the majority of FSS dog breeds as competitors. Most of the Foundation Stock Service dog breeds have contact details available. The AKC does not endorse any particular club above others. Besides Coonhound national breed clubs, none of the clubs are affiliated with the AKC.
