New York, NY- The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization that is the world’s largest registry of purebred and mixed-breed dogs, and a leading voice for canine welfare and responsible ownership, is excited to announce the winners of the 2026 AKC® Fast CAT® Invitational. The event took place September 18-21, 2026 at the Sycamore Creek Family Ranch in Branson, MO. The 10 fastest dogs from each breed, determined by their rankings in the AKC Fast Coursing Ability Tests (Fast CAT), were invited to compete in the 7th annual AKC Fast CAT Invitational.
Over three days of preliminary runs, each dog competed twice in one of two divisions: Pure Speed and Speed of the Breed. In the Pure Speed division, the top 10 fastest dogs within each height class were recognized based on their actual running times. In the Speed of the Breed division, the top 10 dogs that most exceeded their breed’s average speed were honored. The highest-ranking dog in each division earned the titles of 2026 Pure Speed Champion and 2026 Speed of the Breed Champion, respectively.
A total of 682 of the best Fast CAT dogs from 48 U.S. states and two Canadian Provinces representing 197 individual breeds and 16 mixed-breed dogs came together to compete for a chance to be named Pure Speed Champion and/or Speed of the Breed Champion.
Mixed-breed dogs are welcome to compete in AKC sports through the AKC Canine PartnersTM program. Learn more about AKC Canine Partners here.
