New American Kennel Club National Champions Crowned In Obedience And Rally

New York, N.Y. – The top dogs in the nation were crowned from an overall combined entry of more than 500 this weekend at the AKC National Obedience Championship and AKC Rally National Championship held in Wilmington, Ohio at the Roberts Centre.

The 2018 AKC National Obedience Champion is NOC OTCH High Times Hit The Ground Run’N UDX2 OM4 SH (Streak), a Golden Retriever handled by Bridget Carlsen of Yorkville, IL. The 2018 AKC Rally® National Champion (winner of the Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) Class) is Gaylan’s P’Nut Butter Cup Sundae UD VER RAE TD MH TKI (Reese) a Golden Retriever handled by Sharon M. Albright of Cary, NC.

The excitement in the air at the Roberts Centre as the dogs performed and online as friends and families watched from home was electrifying,” said Pamela Manaton, Director of Obedience, Rally and Tracking.

The inaugural Patricia R. Krause “Soaring Eagle” Perpetual Memorial Trophy was presented to Teresa Czaplinski and her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, CH Kd’s Indy Tax Declaration UDX3 OM2 BN VER RAE (Claira), from Fountaintown, IN. The award was bestowed upon the 51st-ranked dog at the end of the day-one competition, to recognize their efforts and to remind them to never give up.

“It is a joy to see the performances at these National Championship events,” said Doug Ljungren, AKC Executive Vice President of Sports and Events. “These dogs represent the very best in their sport from across the country. We’re proud to celebrate the accomplishments and dedication of these talented dogs and handlers.”
