The New CDC Dog Importation Regulations – A Resource Guide
As the new regulations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding the importation of dogs nears its effective date of August 1, 2024, questions remain regarding the rule’s requirements and restrictions. Additionally, some aspects for breeders and exhibitors to consider are:
- Not all US airports are currently equipped to accommodate the new regulations.
- Not every border crossing is affiliated with a USDA-Accredited veterinarian.
- Border Crossings between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. are encouraged.
- Wait times for appointments with an accredited veterinarian can be lengthy.
