The Weekly Brief

It is always a pleasure to share news about the outstanding initiatives underway at the American Kennel Club (AKC). We’re pleased to announce several exciting developments that continue to highlight AKC’s commitment to dog sports and breeder education.
Beginning this October, the Sports & Events Department will introduce a new Conformation titling program specifically for the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS). The program will feature tiered titles—NOHS Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—awarded based on performance thresholds.
This initiative reaffirms AKC’s dedication to supporting and retaining Owner-Handlers, who play a critical role in the longevity and vitality of our Conformation events. Recognizing their contributions is essential to the future of the sport.
We are also excited to announce that applications for the AKC Eddy Award are now open and will be accepted through September 1, 2025. The Eddy Award recognizes Parent Clubs that develop innovative breeder education efforts, whether through their websites, workshops, mentoring programs, or other creative formats.
Up to eight (8) clubs may be selected each year by a committee of AKC experts. For full details and application information, please visit: https://www.akc.org/public-education/resources-for-clubs/akc-eddy-award/
Mark your calendars! The 2025 Rally National Championship and National Obedience Championship will be held at the Purina Event Center in Gray Summit, Missouri, from July 3–7, 2025.
These prestigious events are a celebration of teamwork and the powerful bond between dogs and their owners. We look forward to welcoming new Champions and showcasing the dedication, skill, and partnership at the heart of these sports.
