Judie Evans’ love affair with the Collie began as a child, reading the Collie stories of Albert Payson Terhune. In 1965, she joined the Collie Club of America. Judie remembers her beginnings in learning about this breed, devouring every book, article, and magazine she could find, concentrating on understanding the Breed Standard. She was fortunate to find a wonderful mentor who helped her to formulate her vision of the ideal Collie and who sold Judie her foundation bitch, CH Kemrick’s Silver Satin, who finished with three 5-point majors. This bitch is behind every Clarion Collie today through her influential son, CH Clarion’s Nightrider. Now with nearly 60 years in the breed and more than 125 champions owned or bred, Clarion has become an unmistakable type, easily recognized. This, rather than a focus on “numbers,” has always been Judie’s goal. Judie has been fortunate to have judged Specialties all over the US, including the CCA National in 1997 & 2016, and she has enjoyed judging Collie Specialties in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and in Canada.
