The Dogue de Bordeaux, also known as the French Mastiff, is one of the oldest French breeds of dog. Known for its muscular build and protective nature, the breed has been used historically as an imposing guardian, a big game hunter, and a reliable working dog. The Dogue de Bordeaux has a history that dates back to ancient Gaul, where it is believed to have descended from molossers and mastiff-type dogs brought to Europe by the Romans.
