Breed
The Akita is a powerful, dignified breed originating from Akita Prefecture on the Japanese island of Honshu. The breed is renowned for its large, powerful appearance and its noble and intimidating presence. The Akita is revered for its loyalty and courage, often serving as both a symbol of good health and as a guardian. These dogs carry themselves with an almost “bear-like” strength and a remarkable composure that reflects their dignified heritage.
