Originating in Germany, the breed was used as a herding dog and draft animal, pulling carts to market. The Rottweiler is now popular as a steadfast family companion and devoted working dog. Rotties, as they are affectionately called by their friend, are calm and confident dogs with a “wait and see” attitude when it comes to assessing any situation.
