Barbara Jean Andrews served as columnist for the AKC Gazette and other notable dog publications from the late 1960s until 1993 when she became an exclusive contributor to SHOWSIGHT. She subsequently authored several books for TFH Publications, “the largest publisher of animal books in the world.” In 1998, “BJ” launched www.TheDogPlace.org, the world’s first public website for dog owners and also the first American site allowed to be viewed in China. As a breeder, BJ produced the All-Time Top Sires and Dams in Rottweilers and Akitas, and set show ring records in both breeds before falling in love with Miniature Bull Terriers at Crufts Dog Show in London. She imported several top Mini Bulls, included them in her Judges Seminars, and succeeded in getting the Miniature Bull Terrier AKC recognized. In 2012, Rick Beauchamp, legendary author and AKC judge, called BJ about the Toy Fox Terrier. For decades they had shared interest in new and rare breeds, and Rick was excited about the super-sound little Toy Terrier he had awarded at a UKC (United Kennel Club) show. The rest became history as they joined forces to achieve AKC recognition for one of the smallest, feistiest, and soundest Toy breeds. Today, BJ writes exclusively for SHOWSIGHT.
