Interview with Montgomery County Kennel Club Breed Judge (Cesky Terrier), Dann Wilson

What does it mean to be invited to judge at the Montgomery County Kennel Club dog show, the most prestigious Terrier event in the world?

Dann Wilson: Although I have shown my dogs at MCKC many times over the past 12 years, this is the first opportunity I have had to judge my breed here. What an exhilarating experience it was to be a part of such an auspicious event on the Terrier world calendar!

Do you have any thoughts you’d like to share about your Breed assignment(s) this year? Please be specific.

Dann Wilson: I have been involved in showing and breeding Cesky Terriers for almost 30 years, and I was reminded how the breed has progressed on this side of the world. I was presented with some lovely exhibits, and enjoyed my day to the fullest.

I had an impressive entry of 21 Cesky Terriers and was fortunate to share the judging responsibilities with my good friend, Sarah Richardson of Wales, who judged Sweepstakes.

After judging, I spent a perfect fall afternoon watching breeds compete, renewing old friendships, and meeting some incredible dogs and their owners. The day ended by watching Best in Show in the Judges Gallery, which was both an honor and a privilege to be sitting front row to see all of the winners of their breeds over the day.

Montgomery is certainly a jewel in the dog world crown, and I was honored to be invited to participate in the 2022 show.
