Like so many breeders, the late Dorothy “Dee” Hutchinson was vigorously opposed to hunting. Reluctantly, she finally sold me a dog, Rose Farm’s Range Rover. Ranger was generally useless for four years until one day he decided to hunt. Once Dee discovered that her stock, linebred for decades, carried a very solid hunting gene, she promoted that fact and even used it in some of her ads.
