Brigadier General (retired) Rhonda Cornum, PhD, MD, Has owned and shown Gordon Setters since 1967. A Breeder of Merit, she produces Gordons that are successful in shows and field events in the US and Europe. She and her partner in Germany, Silvia Timmermann, work to produce Gordons that “look like and perform like the standard describes”. They have bred dogs which are successful in the US, the UK, Germany, Poland, Austria, and the Netherlands, with the belief that “Quality has no borders”. Recent accomplishments including earning a Dual Championship with Paris, Wynn and Tesla, and Best of Breed at Crufts, and finishing the second English Show CH.
Following retirement from the Army in 2012, Dr Cornum became a field event judge, a hunt test judge, and member of the Board of Governors of both the Irish Red and White Setter Association and the Gordon Setter Club of America. Since then, she has had the privilege of judging over 50 Gundog/All Age stakes, including a stake at the Irish Setter Gundog Championship. Beginning in 2016, she began judging sporting dog conformation in sweepstakes, and in 2017 she was honored to be invited to judge both the conformation and the field trial portion of the Western Brittany Futurity.
In addition, Rhonda owns and operates “Munroc Farm”, 700 acres producing pastured poultry, corn, soybeans, hay, and grass fed beef every year, in addition to a lot of wildlife. Munroc Farm hosts multiple Walking Field Trials annually and will be privileged to be the site of the English Setter Walking Gun Dog Championship in 2025.
