John Constantine-Amodei – 2025 Morris & Essex Kennel Club Breed Judge

Interview With John Constantine-Amodei – 2025 Morris & Essex Kennel Club Breed Judge – Alaskan Malamutes, Standard Schnauzers, Skye Terriers, Brussels Griffons

1. What does it mean to be invited to judge at the 2025 Morris & Essex Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show, an unrivaled celebration of purebred dogs in America?

John Constantine-Amodei: It is quite the honor to be invited to judge at M&E. It makes me happy to be able to be a part of it. It is one of those elite shows that judges aspire to be invited to judge.

2. Can you share your thoughts on your Breed assignment(s)? Please be specific.

John Constantine-Amodei: I judged four breeds: Alaskan Malamutes, Standard Schnauzers, Skye Terriers, and Brussels Griffons. Brussels Griffons is a breed that I have had for over 25 years as an exhibitor and breeder. The quality was rather high, and the dogs that I selected I would have happily taken (if I were still breeding them, LOL). I was happy to see so many well-presented dogs.

3. Why do you think M&E has remained relevant to preservation breeders and dog show exhibitors in the 21st century?

John Constantine-Amodei: M&E is a reminder of the past and the history of showing dogs. It makes us all feel appreciation for those who brought dog shows along in the past. It is just loads of fun to dress up too!
