Meet Beverly R. Andersen – 2024 National Dog Show Breed Judge
1. What does it mean to be invited to judge at this year’s National Dog Show Presented by Purina?
Beverly R. Andersen: It was an honor and a privilege to be invited to judge for the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.
2. Can you share your thoughts on your various Breed assignments? Please be specific.
Beverly R. Andersen: I enjoy judging dogs from the various parts of the country and beyond. I had a nice entry of Cocker Spaniels and Vizslas (and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and Golden Retrievers on Sunday), giving me several choices for Best of Breed. The smaller entries were also stellar in their representation of their breeds. Judging Best in Show on Sunday was the icing on the cake. Walking into the ring, my heart was pounding as I saw the First Place winners of their respective Group. The choice was not easy as each of the dogs deserved the fabulous, framed ribbons for Reserve Best in Show and, ultimately, for Best in Show.
3. Now that it’s nearly over, what are your thoughts on the 2024 show year? Any thoughts on the year ahead?
Beverly R. Andersen: The year of 2024 has been an extraordinary year for me, starting with judging for the Kennel Club of Palm Springs and ending with my last assignment for the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. I am looking forward to all my future assignments for 2025.
