Insights From Connie Clark: 2026 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Breed Judge
What does it mean to be invited to judge at this year’s historic 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show?
Connie Clark: It is an honor and privilege to be invited to judge for The Westminster Kennel Club at any time, but this year’s historic 150th was an exceptional invitation that I was pleased to receive and join in the celebration.
Can you share your thoughts on your various Breed assignments? Please be specific.
Connie Clark: I was very pleased to be assigned eight major Toy breeds: Chihuahuas (Smooth & Long Coat), Chinese Cresteds, Japanese Chin, Miniature Pinschers, Maltese, Italian Greyhounds, and Havanese. There was wonderful depth of quality in these breeds and I was delighted that the Smooth Chihuahua, Chinese Crested, and Maltese were in Mrs. Patterson’s final cut of eight, with the stunning Maltese winning her Toy Group.
Now that your assignment is complete, what does Westminster mean to you personally?
Connie Clark: Westminster Kennel Club is the second-oldest sporting event in the US and has a vast history and tradition, all taking place in New York City. To attend WKC in Manhattan every year is a celebration that I look forward to, with wonderful dogs and amazing people. President Donald Sturz and the incredibly devoted and hard-working members are what sets WKC apart from any other. Therefore, it is a delight to witness what each year brings for all of us to enjoy!
WESTMINSTER. There is only one.
